Delete your account and data
Last updated: 7 November 2026
This page applies to the inTouch app (iOS and Android) and inTouch Web,
provided by inTouch. You can delete your account yourself
at any time — instantly in the app, or by email without the app.
1. Delete in the app (immediate)
- Open inTouch and tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the gear icon (Settings) at the top.
- Scroll to the “Login” section and tap “Delete Account”.
- Confirm with “Continue to deletion” and then “Yes, delete account”.
Deletion happens immediately, is permanent and has no waiting period. Afterwards the app
on that device is signed out and empty.
Want a copy first? Under Settings → “Your app and media” → “Archive and
Download” you can download a copy of your data as a ZIP file.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot use it:
- Easiest: reinstall inTouch, sign in with your phone number and delete
the account as described above.
- By email: write to datenschutz@in-touch.cc with the subject “Account deletion”
and state the phone number of your account. Before deleting, we check that the number is
yours: we send an SMS code to that number and ask you to tell it to us.
We delete without undue delay,
at the latest within one month, and confirm the deletion by email.
3. What is deleted
On our servers, immediately and completely:
- your account, phone number, name, profile photo, bio, birthday and links,
- the metadata of your messages (who, when, delivery status), undelivered encrypted
messages and your encrypted chat media,
- your stories, posts, comments, likes, highlights, flicks, reactions, poll and event
responses,
- your contact matches (including your ID in other people's contact lists), group
memberships and invitations, contact lists, blocks,
- add-on data (e.g. habits, vocabulary, challenge scores, recipes, mirrored reminders),
your inTouch API key,
- push tokens, settings, public keys, inTouch Web pairings (open browsers are signed out).
On your device, the app deletes all local data (messages, keys, caches). Your
iCloud backup (iOS) or Google Drive backup (Android) of this
app is deleted too. If the Android app currently has no access to Google Drive, it asks
whether you want to grant it first.
4. What remains or disappears later
- Messages held by others: messages and media you sent to other people are
stored on their devices and remain readable there. Those chats then show “Account deleted”.
- Sign-in protection: records of code requests and number checks that are
tied only to a keyed hash of an IP address cannot be linked to any account and expire after
at most 24 hours (those tied to your number are deleted immediately; see the privacy policy,
section 4.1).
- Server logs: our hosting provider's technical logs (e.g. time, IP address,
function called; phone numbers only shortened to the last four digits) are deleted
automatically after 7 days at the latest.
- A backup the app could not delete (e.g. because you refused access to
Google Drive): delete it yourself — Google Drive: drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps →
inTouch → Options → “Delete hidden app data”; iCloud: Settings → [your name] → iCloud →
Manage Account Storage → inTouch.
- inTouch Web: a browser that was offline at the time of deletion signs
out the next time it is opened. You can remove the data stored in the browser via its
settings (“clear site data”).
- Bare references: your former user ID may remain as a number in other
people's records, e.g. as the creator of a group or as a participant in an event expense someone
else recorded. No information about you is stored with that number any more.
- Reports: reports you filed and reports about your content are deleted from
our servers as well. An email notification we received about such a report stays in our mailbox
until the period stated in the privacy policy (section 9) has passed.
- Calling service: for past calls, our provider Cloudflare RealtimeKit received
your profile name and an internal identifier.
We delete them there after each call ends; only technical quality data of the calls is kept by
Cloudflare for 6 months.
5. Deleting only some data
Without deleting your account, you can remove individual content in the app at any time:
messages and whole chats, posts, stories, comments, highlights, your profile photo and profile
details. You can revoke access to contacts, location, camera, microphone and photos in your
device's system settings, sign out paired browsers in the app and switch the backup off.
